Dear fellow genealogists, I am a bit puzzled concerning some names and places in the Ortenau. Many of my ancestors lived in the Kinzigtal, around Biberach. Presumably, entries pre-dating 1725, are listed in the Gengenbach parish records (cath.). But some of the names I found in Biberach I can´t trace back in Gengenbach, for instance: Damm, Gisler, Sohler, Fix, Zapf, Braunstein. Possibly, this has to do with places like Bruch (where the Gislers came from) or Ingersbach (where Braunstein originated from). Does anybody have an idea where to search these names and places instead of the cath. parish records of Gengenbach? Or is anyone able to tell me where to find these places?
