In 1701 the Habsburg lands of the Ortenau were given in fief to the Margrave of Baden-Baden, Ludwig Wilhelm. These Habsburg Ortenau lands did not revert to the Habsburg family until 1771 with the death of the last Margrave of Baden-Baden.
