Wendelin, Thanks for telling me this as I do remember seeing an "Öx" name, but passed by it thinking it was not related. Now I need to check out the Öx in Windschläg as there were Eggs there that married Fischer's. I'm still working on spousal lines. I'm not surprise you said Feist as the "Z" in Zeist looked suspicious, and difficult to read. Joseph son of Andreas Ex and Anna Maria Lehmännin [= Lehmann] You will find the marriage record at 1736 where the surname of Andreas is written "Öx". His father was Mathias Eggs. Anna Maria was the daughter Georg Lehmann (12er = court member) Seems it's Georg Lehmann who married Barbara Heitz in 1716. > and > > Carolus Gallus & Theresia Heitzmann > married 26 Feb 1781 > son of Joseph Gallus & Magdalena Merckler (deceased) > daughter of Georg Heitzmann & Ursula Zeist? from Diersburg > Witnesses: Joseph Gallus, Valentinus Feist, and Andreas Saar of Diersburg. I believe it's Feist. "Ursula Feistin" looks the same like "Valentinus Feist" > I know that Carolus is Latin for Carl. As you know, we "drop" the "o" to > distinguish male and female. Is that the same in German? American always believe Wendelin is a female given name like Gwendolin. - Wendelin ==== DEU-BAD-ORTENAU Mailing List ==== A list of Historic and Current towns of the Ortenau can be found at < http://ortenau.speedyspace.de/ >. ============================== View and search Historical Newspapers.
