Going back to Annoying Message #13, you were stuck hearing about Google, their online books and < http://books.google.com >. Even with all their troubles about books, copyrights and various library and university sources (and denials), they are still working on improving this service. The current issue of the quarterly "The German Connection" published by the German Research Association, Inc in San Diego, California has a two-page article on the success of one of their members in accessing this Google Books site. She found her Germanic information in a French book on those who were "admitted to establish their domicile in France" published in August 1831. Within the article, François Schuhe of "Grossweyer", David Dorflinger of Altenheim, Léopold Feuerlé of Marlen/Offenburg and Chrétien-Charles Vogel from Lahr (but I don't know which Lahr) are mentioned within a total of approximately 40 individuals. >From the Ortsfamilienbuch Großweier François Schuhe was born as Franz Josef Schuh and went missing from the Church Registers after baptism. I am sending the information that he ended up as a tailor in Mulhausen on to Rose's cousin who compiled the Großweier book. I don't know if I have the ability to play with < http://books.google.com > but if you have anyone missing from Baden, the Alsace was a short boat ride away. djweber djwdjw@ix.netcom.com
dj, thanks for remembering of books.google.com. I found some additional books where my familyname is mentioned. I have access to the books from Germany and from Alsace but I must find someone in the US who has access to a big library with literature: Germany.
