Gibt es Quellen, aus denen man Informationen über die in Heidelberg ausgebildeten Wundärzte beziehen kann. Speziell interessieren mich Angaben zu Bernhard Matheus Spitzmüller, geb. 20. Sep. 1791 in Zell a.H., gest. 1. Apr 1856 in Wien. Er soll seinen Beruf in Heidelberg erlernt und dann zunächst in Zell a.H. praktiiziert haben, bevor er nach Wien ausgewandert ist. One interesting detail: Every county (Amt) had not only a physician but also at least one surgeon (Chirurg, Wundarzt) at the beginning of the 19th century. These surgeons had often an education as obstetritian, and some also as a veterinarian. The Baden surgeons who wanted an education as an obstetritian had to observe an practical course of least half an year in the maternity home in Heidelberg since 1816.
