Here is the link for Ancestory.com where it says US Census Records, it says 1880 and a free, just click on the 1880. You can view the records and but if you want more information you will have to subscribe, but I didn't subscribe, I just used the information available. http://ancestry.com/ Linda
Betty, A free transcription of the 1880 Federal US census is available from the LDS web site, < http://www.familysearch.org >. It is NOT all the census information, it is NOT the written census information, it is a transcription of the information into a computer database and some details have not been included in the transcription. If Ancestry was not the site for which you were searching, it is possible that the LDS link off its home page would give you the suficient search ability you want of that Federal census. djweber [email protected] ---------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty Anderson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 21, 2004 5:37 AM Subject: Re: [Ortenau] 1880 Census Free > Linda: I at one time had the ways and means of accessing the 1880 census, > now it is totally forgotten. Again, this is a message which has no connection with the Ortenau. It also may have an interest for only a few of the US members of this List. However, those few might find some value in knowing that for a few days later this month free details would be available from the New England Historical and Genealogical Society. I know nothing about the following message or its background other than it was received through another List: ----- Genealogical Register database on NewEnglandAncestors.org over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Normally only available to NEHGS members, the Register database will be accessible to everyone from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28, 2004. We encourage all NEHGS members to spread the word about this offering and we hope that those of you who are not members find a veritable feast of ancestors in the Register database! Published quarterly since 1847, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register is the flagship journal of American genealogy and the oldest journal in the field. The online database includes issues from 1847 to 1994. The Register has featured articles on a wide variety of topics since its inception, including vital records, church records, tax records, land and probate records, cemetery transcriptions, obituaries, and historical essays. Authoritative compiled genealogies have been the centerpiece of the Register for more than 150 years. Thousands of New England families have been treated in the pages of the journal and many more are referenced in incidental ways throughout. The articles in the Register range from short pieces correcting errors in print or solving unusual problems to larger treatments that reveal family origins or present multiple generations of a family. Look for details on how to obtain free access to the Register in a special eNews bulletin to be sent out Wednesday, November 24. A link will also be available on that date on the home page of our website, http://www.NewEnglandAncestors.org. ------- I repeat I know nothing about this information, whether there are any gimmicks involved or if it is as suggested, a free gesture. I am merely relaying information received from another source. djweber [email protected]
To all Ortenau List members: I have received information from your List Administrator that a change in servers has been made for your companion web sites. The < http://ortenau.50free.org/ > < http://ortenau.50free.org/search/ > web sites have been replaced. Please note that your historical information of the towns of the Ortenau and your ability to search and list surnames for your towns of the Ortenau are now located at < http://ortenau.speedyspace.de/ > < http://ortenau.speedyspace.de/search/ >. The adjustments in the Ortenau Taglines information will be made. djweber [email protected]
This is strictly for general information. If anyone has interest in the (US) Revolutionary War Pension records and has access to HeritageQuest on its 24/7 computer home service through a library card Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Applications have been added to their electronic data of US Census records, Books and PERSI. djwber [email protected]
I am able to read the gothic script. Let me see what you have, Rose Here is something for anyone interested. Have news for you for your genealogical pursuits. Oensbach has published a Ortssippen book, the family book of Oensbach. This is up far sale to whoever is interested, 679 pages. All the families from the Birth, Marriage an Death Registers of the Oensbach Church from 1700 to 1950 are put together as families. Plus any notations as to wittneses, where they came from, where they went. My book arrived two days ago and it is more what I expected, good and full of information. Should you want a book to fill in the Weber's and other information, I do recommend it. To order the book, e-mail to < [email protected]> Eugen Weber His name is Eugen Weber is born in Oensbach, also has done tremendous work to make the book accurate and good. Seven years in the making. The book cost is 50.-- Euro plus 44.-- Euro for airmail postage, or by boat it is 29.-- Euro. Rose Weber - Goutbeck in sunny Alberta. > The scan that Kurt sent is only 191 KB very small.. The scan that Kurt sent is only 191 KB very small.. I thought that 8 megs was the entire book.. I loaded it to the Yahoo List under photos and you should be able to enlarge it. If not I can send on the scan to anyone who thinks they can read this. It is typical German writing very hard for me to read also, but as I said the file is very small and it's just a scan of a page. So let me know who wants it. Linda
You can send it to me, I will try and resize it or at best cut out the part you can't read. Linda
Hello Kurt: Sorry, I can't download a 8 MB file because my Internet time is limited (no flatrate) and I have no DSL or ISDN. If your scan is a BMP file maybe you can convert it into a JPG. Hello Wendelin, >how large is your file? If it's not over about 300 kb you may send the scan to >my address. it is 8650032 byte = 8 MB, if I see it correctly! Best Kurt.
Hello Kurt, how large is your file? If it's not over about 300 kb you may send the scan to my address. You can access the 1880 census free on Ancestory.com for awhile. I have been searching for my US ancestors with not much success, but did find some extended members of the family. The worst thing is trying to figure out all the different combinations of spelling that may have been used. Even with Soundex, it's not always bringing up everyone. Linda
I think that they are getting this server up, I have two messages..lol Gosh I hope they don't just sent the entire week or so's worth at once. Linda
Hello, recently I found an marriage entry of an ancestors´ couple who married in 1836 in Biberach/Kinzigtal. The problem is that I can´t read all words and therefore can´t determine the origins of the bride. Who can help? I have a scan I could send to you! Thank you very much best Kurt (Erlemann)
Hello, who can tell me the batchnumber(s) of Prinzbach? Thank you very much best Kurt (Erlemann)
DJ, I don't know what you meant by your 2nd paragraph as I never received that message from Wendenlin, through the Ortenau List, as you described. Was that only suppose to be for certain people? I also haven't been receiving any mail from ANY of my Lists. How do you know whether you are on Lists2, Lists3, Lists5, or whatever? ..... except that you just said Ortenau was Lists2? Normally, if things are too quiet with my Lists, I head for the archives to see if anything has come in (though this week has been an exception!). Wendelin had sent a message to the Ortenau list several days ago "explaining" in Rootsweb terms as to how to determine which server each of your various lists is on. The message came from Rootsweb and it looked more confusing but it actually worked. I checked a couple of currently inactive lists and found Lists5 as the answer. I will copy that most of that message below. djweber [email protected] ----------------------------
Thanks, I am on BADEN-WURTTEMBERG list and with a large membership I usually get lots of mail, but I havent' gotten anything. It is on Lists5. OK, then it's not bellsouth's firewall, they have a way of blocking some things that are opt in, and was just making sure I was still on the lists. Linda
testing I haven't received Rootsweb mail for several days from this or other lists. Linda
