I am also from the Eli G. Smith line. My mother's notes say he was known as "Figuring" Eli Smith. He was father of MaryEllen "Lovey" Smith who married Nathaniel Wharton. Their son William Hickman Wharton was the father of my maternal grandmother, Edith Blanche Wharton, who married Ebe H. Chandler. Their daughter Marian E. Chandler Hancock is my mother.
