Author: DgDougherty Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.delaware.counties.sussex/1122.1.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: William Carter: Land Records of Sussex Co.,DE 1763-1769 pg 4 27 Jun 1763 Quit Claim Mary Wynhoop of New Castle Co. widow & relect of Abraham late of Sussex quit claim deed unto Benjamin of Phildelphia eldest living son of dec'd Abraham land called Cedar Town Track side of Mispellion Creek in Cedar creek Nech 600 acres granted by patent dated 29 Oct 1686 unto William Carter. page 39-40(144-145) Deed 8 Aug 1722 Land, by warrent of resurvey, belonging to William Carter found to be surplusage 27 acres & on 27 Sep 1686 William carter conveyed the land to William Clark who conveyed to Major William Dyre on 3rd da 4th mo 1687 so that whole track is deemed to be 86 acres Have to read the deed to make sense out of all this. page 71(276-277) Deed 5 Feb 1727 mentions land is part of a larger tract of 600 acres known as Cedar Town granted by patent to William Carter on 29th da 8th mo 1686 who conveyed to Wm Clark page 82(327-328) talks about same land owned by Wm Carter being bought and passed on. page 93(381-384)deed being at one time part of William Carter's .This deed mentions the Manloves and the Cliftons.
