My gr-gr uncle Purnal Coverdale and possibly some of his brothers (Jacob, Jeramiah, Levin,) went there per census records, but that is all I have on them. Purnal's father was Luke Coverdale of Duck Creek Hundred, Kent County, DE b. 1795, d: 17 Mar 1860; wife was Jane Wright b. abt 1812, d. after Jun 1870. They also had a son listed in Luke's will as Major. I can find no other info on Major, and wonder if this is a name or a military rank. any info would be appreciated, and have more to share if these are the same families. I do know on my husband's side of the family, he had a gr gr grandfather MeGee, who when enlisted in the Civil War the clerk spelled his name the way it sounded, and when he later applied for a pension, he had to appy using the misspelling, Magee. That type of error frequently occurred with census takers too. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
