My daughter and I went down to the Bethel Cemetary on Saturday AM and found the two Ake headstones you mentioned. Tonite, I got out my Pomeroy and Beers mapbook for 1868 and found several Akes here in Gumboro. Our home was owned by Lida and Jacob Ralph Wooten ( and several generations of Woottens before them) but Sallie C. Ake for some reason wrote her name on the wall... I'm having a heck of a time finding her after 1870, where she's listed in Wicomico as a domestic servant and also still at her parents home in Gumboro... Thanks so much for your help!
