He had many sons (George M., Robert, Thomas, James, Archibald, Malcolm) and was married to Mary Shepard (also Scottish) The sons and mother moved to Buffalo NY in the 1860s. Robert and George married two Chester sisters, Elizabeth and Rebecca. George and Robert moved to Oakland, California in about 1875. Ring any bells?
