My John Smith and family, including son Levin, were on the 1860 Federal Census in Baltimore Hundred, Millsboro. They were both listed as Lighthouse Keepers. I have been advised that a John Smith was the first lighthouse keeper on Fenwick Island from 1859 to 1861. I believe this may be the above family. Would there be a closer lighthouse that was running in 1860? to Millsboro, or could someone shed light on census records for lighthouse keepers and their families. Thank you.
