According to FIRST DORCHESTER FAMILIES by Calvin W. Mowbray, John Hodson/Hudson migrated to Dorchester County from Virginia prior to 1659. He made his will on February 20, 1676 and it was entered for probate on July 14, 1677. In his will he names two sons by the name of John, one by his first wife and another by his second wife. The son of his second wife is known in the records as John Hodson Secundus. The older son is known simply as John Hodson. The older son also had a son or sons named John one of whom was known as John Hodson Quartus. I have not seen the original probate records, but abstracts from the Dorchester Land Records confirm that there were men known as John Hodson/Hudson Sr, Jr, Secundus (2nd) and Quartus (4th) living contemporaneously.
