Please note that this is not for me. If you have any information that can help her in her CALLOWAY research please contact me and i'll forward your info to her. Sincerely, Corleen (Edited e-mail message) Corleen, I don't know that much about the Calloway/Callaway side of my family. Here is what I have found out so far. I know that my grand mother's name was Margaret Lula Calloway. I have a copy of one of her son's Arthur Social Security Application and she has signed her name Lula Margaret Calloway. According to her death certificate (which I have a copy) she is listed as Margaret Callaway Selmes. B June 17, 1896 in Maryland and D June 29, 1954 in Broward County, Florida. She married James Rodger Simmons sometime in 1910 but I do not have an actual date. In 1910 my grandfather James Rodger Simmons was found still living with his family. See census below. 1910 Census Maryland Dorchester County Dated 4/19/1910 Cambridge Town Ward 4 District 41 Sheet 8B Lists the following: Simmons, William D Head M W 30 S MD MD MD Carpenter Boat Builder Simmons, Lillian MotherF W 58 WdMD MD MD 7 Children 7 Living Simmons, Edward Brother M W 31 S MD MD MD Carpenter Boat Builder Simmons, John D Brother M W 28 M MD MD MD Sailor Oyster Boat Simmons, Thomas E BrotherM W 26 M MD MD MD Carpenter Boat Builder Simmons, James R. I also know that she was married either one or two more times. Again according to the death certificate she is a widow and lists her last name as Selmes which must mean that Russell Selmes was her last husband. I have reasons to believe she was also married to a Mr. Orem but have nothing to prove it except that a Charles Orem was included as a decendent in the administration of her estate which was handled by my father. With this information I started searching the census and I found what I believe to be her family. 1880 US Federal Census Broad Creek, Sussex County, Delaware Calaway, John W M 26 M Laborer MD MD MD Calaway, Margaret J. February 12, 1916 Cambridge Maryland d. March 1987 Maryland. This is basically all I know for sure. I then started searching the census for the paternal family of my grandmother. One census lists her place of birth as Maryland the other Delaware. When I found the found the family of Jonathan and Sarah with a John age 6 in the 1860 Maryland Census I thought I had found it..and you know the rest. If you can help me in any way I would be most greatful. Thanks for all your help now and in the future.
