    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Isaac Washington Hopkins was the son of Robert, brother to James, my GGGG Grandfather. I don't have much on Isaac specifically, other than his 1880 Census record: 1880 Census Place: Portsville, Sussex, Delaware - Page 637C Source: FHL Film 1254118 National Archives Film T9-0118 Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birth Occupat Fa Mo Isaac W. In 1830, Robert and James are just a few houses apart. A Joshua Hopkins is living between them at a perfect age for a father. This lead me to the 1810 Census when James would have been abut 13 and Robert about 5. See below: 1830 Broadcreek Hundred Sussex County Delaware, page 150 Joshua Hopkins 1 male 60-70 1 female 60-70 Living next door to James and a few houses from Robert. I suspect he is Robert's and James' father. So far, unconfirmed. 1810 New Castle County Delaware Joshua Hopkins 1 male 0-10 (Robert 5) 1 male 10-16 (James) 1 male 26-45 (Josua was 40-45 years old) 1 female 10-16 1 female 26-45 (Mary was 40-45) 1 female 45+ My grandmother passed down a family Hopkins story that Great Great Great Great (GGGG) Grandfather James Hopkins is said to have been born before 1780 had two brothers, George and Robert. They are believed to be the three brothers who "built a boat and sailed from Wales" and are the earliest generation we can definitely pin down. There is nothing known about George, but Robert did marry and have two sons, Nehemiah and Washington. Our ancestor, James, married Mary Coomb, and had three daughters and one son: (1) Priscilla, (2) Martha, (3) Elizabeth, and (4) Alexander Washington. I descend from Alexander Washington Hopkins. I am skeptical of the family story and believe if it did happen it was some generation(s) before James' and Robert's. Stacey Jefferson Austin, Texas [email protected]
