Calling someone 'Sr.' or 'Jr.' does not explain anything, since those designations can indicate relative age of contemporaries rather than father-son relationships. There were many persons name Absalom and William Willey. 'Father of my grandfather' might place the older man as born in the mid-19th century, whereas these names go back to the early 18th century -- if not earlier.
