Morris is my great grandfather. I have found a William Morris's will for 1818 in Sussex county listing Mitchell and showing some of the land that Mitchell later wills. Williams wife was Leddea. I have seen the stones for Mitchell and Rachel. I am still not sure of the birth date for Mitchell due to the will of William being in 1818 naming Mitchell as executer and other dates that do not meet the 1811 estimate from the census. I think someone got it wrong back then but does anyone know the right date for him? The H in John H is for Henry according to family papers. It does not say the name of his wife but here is more from the Keddie's abstract: 1. Laban H. Munay -son - named executor and the testator desires to be buried next to his lately deceased wife in the burying ground at Joseph Long's. 2. Stephen W.Munay --son - to have all the land whereon he now lives adjoining the lands of the Heirs of Joseph McCabe, Joseph Morris, Sr. and Levin Morris, Mary Munay (widow) and James Hickman, Sr. ____________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. In the 1850 Wor census my gr grandfather Jonathan Baker (very much a mystery man) is living between Samuel C Smith b1827 and Jonathan Smith b 1802. One problem with Benj>your John & Samuel C. is that Samuel b 1827 and the 1850-1860 censuses have your John b 1811-1813. I have 3 lines from Sussex. My connection to Rufus Trader Smith who stayed in Sussex is through his son Henry "Harry" who m into my Murray line and had a son also named Rufus who operated the "Smith Dress Shop" in Selbyville where I grew up. I would be very interested in whom you, or your researcher, find to be the fa of John, fa of Rufus Trader Smith. marj Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I only have Rufus on the 1850 census with the family. In 1860, he and two of his siblings weren't with the rest of his family. This is what I have in the 1850 census, Delaware, Sussex, Nanticoke Hundred: John Smith, 37, born DE (1813) Milly, 40, born MD (1810) Sally, 18, born DE (1832) She also was Sarah on the 1860 census John, 17, born DE (1833) Rufus, 13, born DE (1837) Leven, 12, born DE (1838) Mary, 11, born DE (1839) James, 8, born DE (1842) David, 6, born DE (1844) Milly, 5, born DE (1845) Purnel, 4, born DE (1846) I think this is William on the 1860 census Hester, 1, born DE (1849) Then on the 1860 Census, Delaware, Sussex, Baltimore Hundred: John Smith, 49 Amelia, 50, Sarah, 28 Leven, 23, James, 19 David, 17 Milly, 14 William, 13 Hester, 11 Josephine, 3 (1857) William, 1 (1850) I am very interested in the Josephine and youngest William as I believe William is my great grandfather. I am now having this family researched, but any extra information may help. The three siblings: Rufus, John and Mary are not on the 1860 census. One of these three may have been the parent of Josephine and William. Both Josephine and William were orphans; Josephine died as a young girl and William went with an uncle about age 7 or 8. The other part I know is that William went to live with one of his uncles in Missouri as a young man (whatever age that is). I have found a James and Leven Smith, born Delaware in Salt River, Shelby County, Missouri in the 1870 and 1880 census. William used to live in Shelbina so I'm almost certain this is my family. I just can't figure out who are the parents. Both Josephine and William seem too young to be John and Amelia's children. They also have another older son named William. Looking forward to hearing from you again. The other Smith family you mentioned is not (as yet) in my tree. Joni Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
