We traced our family back through Charlton Smiths to a John who came to the "New World" in the mid 1600's. This Charlton who married Ann Marvel is my fourth great grandfather: his son William Smith, Sr., who married Polly Johnson; Chalton Smith who married Mary Ann Macklin; William Henry Smith who married Mary Ellen James; Frank Sanford Smith who was my grandfather, Hiel Thomas Smith who was my father. I have some questions regarding your line of Hollands. 3 brothers came to Cincinnati about 1805: Thomas 1781-1850, Zach(d1835), and Samuel(d1825). 1850 Census for Thomas states MD as place of birth. Trying to find connection to MD. Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Ohio. In Samuel Holland's will dated 1825 he nominates his brother Thomas Holland 1781-1850 as guardian of 3 minor children. Zachariah Holland, who died in 1835 sells his land to his brother Thomas. The brothers came to Hamilton County between 1804-1806. Thomas states in the 1850 Census that he was born in Maryland. Since my other branch is from Anthony Holland, I am reasonably certain they are not from that line. I would like to know more of the Hollands on the Eastern Shore. My post about families from Sussex DE going to OH was refering to McCabes and Campbells. Ann Arundel Co MD is on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay. The Hollands I know about are from Somerset/Worcester Co MD and Sussex DE on the Eastern Shore of the Bay, an entirely different area. My information has been gathered mostly from Wills and Probate records, some of which are abstracted and published but you probably are asking about a published source on the Hollands; I have not used any. I'm still interested in your source stating that your Samuel, Zachariah and Thomas were brothers. Do you have any idea what part of MD they were from? If they too are likely from Ann Arundel then you will probably not find anything on their family from this board. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Desendants of John McCabe says Amos went to Ohio but I am not sure abt this because he wrote a will in Sussex DE in 1824. Amos was the son of Arthur whose dau Nancy m Severn MURRAY of James. Several in these extended families went to OH, as you mentioned Lydia McCabe of Arthur(m Ebe Campbell); Levin T, son of Amos; a dau of Amos (m Gideon Brasure). Do you know the parents of Zipporah Jones? I am looking for the parents of "Martha Jones" whom the McCabe book lists as the wife of James MURRAY. thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
