He married my G-Grandmother Sarah Drigous and they were living in Camden in 1910. I know he was from the "Bungee" tribe in African. That may be where you get the "Buggy" name from. My great grandmother ended up leaving him and moved to New York City where she was living in 1930. Do you think we could be related? To answer David's message I have the following: I have Hetty (Henrietta) West who married John (thanks for the first name) Mc Main as a sister of William West III, son of William II and Esther Art. I have James McMain West, husband of Rebecca Fisher Hazzard, as son of William West III & Mary Westley. Date of birth for James McMain West is 17 October 1795 in Lewes, DE. Walt, do you have a James West recorded who fits Eva's James McMain West? Do either of you know how Hester West and James West might have been related? Did the two events ... James' birth and Hester & John's marriage .... occur in the same general area? Could Hester West's brother have been James West's father? (That is, could Hester have been young James' aunt?). And/or, could James' mother possibly have been John McMain's sister, cousin, or other relative? As I've written separately to Eva, while "family name" middle names often or usually have been inspired originally by an ancestor of the one receiving the name, that's not always the case. It's possible, for instance (and not knowing more about your lines) that James West's father knew and respected a Mr. McMain ... perhaps because Mr. McMain and Hester were courting (if, indeed, Hester was James' aunt) ... and so chose to bestow the name on young James. Just speculating. Eva, There are a few McMan's by married in my family. All showing about 1900 in NC county census. Could your McMain have been an incorrect transcription of that name. It might have been the Delaware Coast Press which was published in Rehoboth and covered Lewes and possibly Milton. Holly **************The year's hottest artists on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. Go to AOL Music. (http://music.aol.com/grammys?NCID=aolcmp00300000002565)
I am looking for information concerning what newspapers were being published in Milton, DE or thereabouts in 1928. I am looking for the obituary of my g-grandmother who died Feb. 22, 1928. Her name was Sarah Bailey, widow of Joshua Bailey. She would have been about 87 at the time of her death. Darlene
