Jonathan Ake of Baltimore Hd is my ancestor through his dau Elizabeth m Benjamin Long (Selbyville). Jonathan had a son Thomas but both he and Thomas D are listed on the 1860 census. I find a Thomas later nr Ocean View where I believe Jonathan lived. Likewise it is possible that there were 2 Sallies in 1870 although I too have theorized she was listed twice on the same census. John S. at Bethel would be her brother. In 1840 Balt Hd. a Thomas lived bet Levin Rickets & John Wharton. 1800 Census. Wor Co MD. Bogerternorton Hd. shows William Ake whom I have theorized was father of Thomas D. as Thomas D. named a son William; likewise Wm may be son of John in Bogerternorton 1740. I would be interested in any more Ake facts that you discover. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My daughter and I went down to the Bethel Cemetary on Saturday AM and found the two Ake headstones you mentioned. Tonite, I got out my Pomeroy and Beers mapbook for 1868 and found several Akes here in Gumboro. Our home was owned by Lida and Jacob Ralph Wooten ( and several generations of Woottens before them) but Sallie C. Ake for some reason wrote her name on the wall... I'm having a heck of a time finding her after 1870, where she's listed in Wicomico as a domestic servant and also still at her parents home in Gumboro... Thanks so much for your help! Author: Jones1025 Surnames: Willey, Griffith, Johnson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.delaware.counties.sussex/3241.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This may not be much help but here goes. It appears from looking at the census the following : Abner L. willey is the son of Abner Willey and Susan [mnuk] - It appears that his father died about 1874-5 so I would try the De archives to see if there is an estate or will. It also appears that this was a second marriage for Abner [Sr.] since there is a 17 year age difference and Abner [Sr.] is listed in DE records as married to Elizabeth Lofland on Aug 27 1842. Abner and Elizabeth appear in the 1850 census in Broadkill with 3 children James A. Phillip H. and Martha. In 1860 Abner is listed in the census in Cedar Creek m to Susan with children Phillip age 13, Elizibeth 5,Benj. F[ranklin] 4 Greenberry 3 and Charles W. 1 indicating that the last 4 children are probably Susans. I 1870 Abner and Susan are still in Cedar Creek with children Elizabeth, Franklin, Burton [ or Benton] Charles, George, Hannah J. and a 2 yearold whos name I can't read. Then finally in 1880 Susan is in M! urderkill, Kent with Frank, Charlie, Jane, again a name I can't read, Mark and Abner I can't tell you who Abner's father is because he is one of the loose ends in my files Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi Jackie I know you posted about the Dutton Family. but your last name Skinner is what got my attention. My uncle married an (E)Liza Skinner in the late 1920's or early 30's. They had one daughter Geraldine. They divorced and I met Geraldine in 1958 when our grandmother died in Philadelphia, PA. His name was Watson Parker Hoxter and I have been trying to find information on this line in the family ever since. At the time of the marriage they were either in New Jersey or Maryland. The Hoxter''s came from Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. If this is not your family please let me know. If it is I would appreciate hearing anything you might know of. Another cousin told me that Geraldine came back to Maryland, married, and died about 2001, but no one remembers who she married. By the way she was a teacher. Hope that you can help me. Fran 1. 2. eleanor bailey
    3. I am hoping to find someone who is connected to the Bailey , Baily, Baley, Bayly families who left the Milford and Little Creek Hundred area of Delaware in about 1807. The families consisted of George and Nancy, their children: Horatio Bailey and wife Sally Hust/Hurst, Isaac Jones and wife Elizabeth Bailey, Sally Bailey and husband John Cook, and William B. Bailey. They migrated to Ross and Pickaway counties in Ohio. In 1812 Horatio enlisted in the Ohio Militia and served in Capt. Phillip McNemar's Company for 6 months. The families lived in Ohio until about 1826, when Horatio and William B. moved on to Warren County, Indiana. George died between 1815-1826 in Ohio. I have documentation of Horatio's War of 1812 service, discharge and pension application and land transactions in Pickaway county, Ohio 1818 and 1820. If anyone connects to this family, please email me at erbailey39@insightbb.com Thanks Eleanor Bailey , Lafayette, Indiana
