    1. [DESUSSEX] Mystery Fleetwood from Delaware
    2. I am researching the following Fleetwood family. I need help trying to correctly identify the given name(s) of the Fleetwood man who married Susan C. Scott between 1868 and 1880. ? Fleetwood (b. ?; d. ?) married Susan C. Scott [b. 2-11-1852 (or '54, or "61, or '62 -- records vary); d. 11-11-1927, Milford, DE; bur. I.O.O.F., Milford, Kent Co., DE] Children of ? Fleetwood & Susan C. Scott: 1. Ida May Fleetwood (b. 9-5-1880, Milford, DE; d. 5-29-1943, Milford, Sussex Co., DE; bur. 6-2-1943, I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Milford, Kent Co., DE). Married on 12-26-1897 to: George Joseph Still (b. 9-22-1873 or maybe 1874, DE; d. 7-21-1952, M ilford, Sussex Co., DE; bur. 7-23-1952, I.O.O.F., Milford, Kent Co., DE). 2. Minnie Fleetwood (b. 4-17-1884, Milford, DE; d. 7-21-1957, Milford, DE; bur. I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Milford, Kent Co., DE). Married Harry Lee Hill (b. 8-14-1882, DE; d. 3-7-1955, Milford, DE; bur. I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Milford, Kent Co., DE). 3. Harry Benjamin "Mike" Fleetwood (b. 12-23-1891, Milford, DE; d. 1-17-1968, Blades, Sussex Co., DE; bur. Blades Cemetery, Blades, Sussex Co., DE) Note: The following children are listed in the Ida May (Fleetwood) & George Joseph Still's family Bible as siblings of Ida May. There is reason to believe that ? Fleetwood married twice, so it is not certain that Susan C. Scott was their mother. No information is known about them except their names. 4. William Fleetwood 5. James Fleetwood 6. George Fleetwood 7. Mary E. Fleetwood Also, buried with Susan C. (Scott) Fleetwood is Elizabeth Fleetwood (b. 1899; d. 1911). Is Elizabeth Susan's and ?'s daughter? Is it possible that she is Mary E. Fleetwood? There is no evidence to support that possibility except that there is no Elizabeth listed as a sibling of Ida May in the family Bible; perhaps Mary E. was Mary Elizabeth. Now, on to the mystery regarding the given name(s) of ? Fleetwood. Ida May (Fleetwood) Still's granddaughter's family Bible listed her great-grandfather (Ida May's father) as Curtis Fleetwood. Ida May's death certificate lists her father as Jehamara Fleetwood based on information provided by her daughter Jennie Minerva (Still) Clarke. Minnie (Fleetwood) Hill's death certificate lists her father as William Fleetwood based on information provided by her daughter Myrtle May (Fleetwood) Reedy. Harry's ("Mike's") death certificate lists his father as Morrow Fleetwood based on information provided by his daughter Katharine (Fleetwood) Stair. All of these sources list Susan C. Scott as his wife. Is it possible that there are other Fleetwood researchers out there who can help us determine what the actual given name(s) of this member of the Fleetwood family is (are)? Thanks for any help you can muster! Karen Carter Minneapolis

    1. [DESUSSEX] BASIL DERRY (1920)
    2. Good morning -- This is my first time to post to this list. Another researcher graciously shared with me yesterday that the 1920 DE Census recorded: 203-210 DERRY, BASIL, Head, age 32, born DE, farmer, white (abbreviated info) DERRY, GEORGIANA, wife, age 38, born DE, white DERRY, LINIA D., daughter, age 3 1/2, born DE, white DERRY, WILLIAM J., son, age 1 1/2, born DE, white This family lived in enumeration district #178 (Jan 14, 1920) and the other information states 1st Elec. 9th, Rep. District. Please, please, please -- if anyone has any information on this BASIL DERRY or knows of descendants, I would very much like to be contacted. My husband's 4th-great-grandfather was BAZIL DERRY (1786-1879) of Georges Township, Fayette County, PA. The family name of "BAZIL-BASIL" has been carried on in a limited way. Most of the family "went west" -- this has been exciting to find at least one part moved "back east". Thanks for any support! Joan Brown Derry [email protected]

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ellis, Horsey, Twilley, Phillips, Kinney/Kenny, Elzey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3Y.2ADI/288.628 Message Board Post: Hi Carol I believe that we may be able to help one another. We do seem to have common names: Twilley, Ellis, Hearn, with the Ellis connection, and Phillips. I haven't done much on the Phillips line. But one of my grandfathers, Robert Twilley, married a Nancy Phillips, dau. of Richard and Lavenia Phillips. I have a great deal of Twilley info for Sussex County. The Hearn connection is by a marriage only. It was Eleanor Ellis marrying a Burton Hearn. I'm trying to find all "cousins" for the most part. My true connection to the Ellis family is through Eleanor's brother, Martin M. Ellis. He married Rachel Elizabeth Kinney, dau of Samuel and Eleanor Kinnikin. Martin's dau. Kate Matilda Ellis married Washington Robe Horsey. Their dau, Helen, married my grandfather, Paul Hamilton Twilley. (I hope that's clear enough.) All of my information on the Ellis family has been from the book by J. M. Runk " Biographical and Genealogical History of Delaware". (I hope that's the right title.) I have taken that information and ran with it. I could not find anything else. I do know that Martin bought a piece of land in 1845 from an Elizabeth Ellis. I do believe that she was his mother. Further research says that Elizabeth was the daughter of William Elzey and Rachel Lowe. The Elzey family has already been traced by 2 genealogist. With that said, I'll accept that also until I prove otherwise. Martin is also found in the 1850 census for Sussex County Delaware as Martin M. Mills! Everything is a match for his family in 1850 census. (Further research maybe needed to prove that - Mills research.) Martin is also living next door to Arnold Elzey, his mothers brother. Well, I don't know where Martin was living, but I would be very interested in finding that cemetery also. I do live in the area and not a week goes by that I don't take a ride around the area; just looking! Do you have a copy of Martin's will?? I have it transcribed and would be happy to supply you with a copy. In the will, it mentions a ranch called "Wolfe Gilestead?". I do not have any idea where that is located, but it has to be outside of Delmar Delaware. (I live 7 mins. away from the town.) If I could find that piece of property, maybe it would help. In his will, Martin asked that this ranch be sold only if all the children agreed to selling it! So, there has to be a very good reason for that. I just don't know what. Maybe there is a cemetery...... In the Runk book, Runk states the Martin is now living in Delmar. I believe that the copyright is 1898. So, I'm assuming that he moved there shortly after 1890 or so. Per the 1900 census for Delmar Delaware, he is living in that town. As a matter of fact, all of his children is living there also. Most of his children are married, with children. The children are buried in the cemeteries, which are located in that town, not very far from where they lived. Well, enough for now. I hope that all can understand what I have given. If you have any questions, please ask. Ron from Salisbury, Md.
