If I knew who came over first, I could probably tie them in somewhare either in U.S. or overseas. But I don't have ship name or date, and as you know, when you get into the 1600s there isn't a lot to search. I haven't given up and won't give up, so if I live long enough maybe I will solve it. I hesitate to send you the spreadsheet as by going to this list Ancestor.com can take and sell it to whomever may be interested. I am not interested in contributing to them, and them selling the information. They have some of my family and probably every other genealogist's family information on their site and MUCH of it is incorrect. Sorry, but that's just the way I feel. Verna

To George Adkins - You wrote in rootsweb DESUSSEX board Jan. 14 >> Aaron Collins. Aaron was born 1779 or 1780 and died after 1860. I am trying to determine Aaron's family, other than Elzey, and who Aaron's parents were. I will see if I can read the writing. George A. Adkins << --------------- Does this mean you plan to visit the Nabb Library? If so, I would like to keep in contact. And are you of the Adkins family ([email protected]) that I had contact with re HASTINGS in 2001? You did not say where your Elzey Collins was located. I am interested in my Solomon Collins b. 1800, prob. either in Worc. Co. MD where he was married 1824 or in DE. Dau Mary E. m. Waitman/Wateman Hastings of Sussex Co., DE. Also, I remember your saying there were **three** Collins lines in the Delmarva area. Can you tell why they do not seem to relate? I remember Elaine Hastings Mason, compiler of Sussex land records, saying she had **three** Collins lines. Our mutual ancestor was father of my Waitman Hastings, whose younger brother married into her different Collins line from mine. She unfortunately died shortly after we made contacy a couple of years ago. I would like to see your spreadsheet. Will it email? Attchmt?

He probably was born in the beginning of the 1700's. I know he had a daughter Nancy, who married a James Riggins and settled in Cumberland Co. NJ. Would appreciate any help.
I am seeking a child born to CLARA GUSBERG (probably O.W.) sometime in the few years prior to 1919 when she had another child. The first child could have been born in any one of the following states: New York; New Jersey (where Clara was born); Delaware (where she lived in 1918 with her first husband, Sam E. Cole); Connecticut (where she also lived and her 2nd child was born); or Rhode Island where her 2nd husband came from and where she spent some time in the early 1900s. The 1st child was probably placed in adoption so I can't get any data. If you are this person or know who is please contact me privately with any information. Thank you. There is a room with rows and rows of large binders on the different families that lived on the E. Shore of MD early on. Dryden did research on most of the families of the early 1700s. But, and this is a big but, his writing is almost imposssible to read. If you are lucky, which I was on the COLLINS name, you might find some correspondence that can be read....maybe typewritten pages, but mostly they are all in long hand. I didn't find an AARON COLLINS, but I only searched before 1800, as my JOHN COLLINS had left the E. Shore by then. I don't know if anyone at the Nabb Center would copy for you or not, but doubt it. You didn't say when AARON COLLINS was in the area. (dates). There were 3 different COLLINS families there and I have land records for almost all of them, but still can't connect my JOHN COLLINS to the correct family, so don't know his m.a! nd f., sisters, and brothers. Wish someone would transcribe those Draper Papers, but it would be a huge job. Verna

Greetings, My ancestor, Caleb Davis would have been living in Cedar Creek Hundred during the American Revolution(1775-1783). I would appreciate any suggestions on possible regiments or militia Caleb could have been associated with. Caleb Davis' name appears in Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots by Patricia Law Hatcher pg. 237. Any help will be appreciated. Kindest regards, Tod Davis

Greetings, Looking for more information on Caleb DAVIS b. 1748 and died 15 Apr 1820, Marion Co., (W)VA. Married Leah. Leah's maiden name could be Basnett. Below are some entries as the pertain to Caleb Davis: On 13 May 1772, Caleb Davis, Jehu Davis and Caleb TUCKER witnessed the will of Moses Davis. By 1774, Moses' widow, Elizabeth, had married Caleb Tucker, and Jehu Davis was administering the estate accounts. On 27 May 1774, the Orphan's Court at Dover ordered the sale of Moses' land to pay his debts. Pursuant to this order, Jehu Davis sold the land at public auction to the highest bidder on 27 June 1774 for 155 pounds. As the highest bidder Caleb Davis. acquired this tract of 153 acres in Mispillion Hundred, Kent County, Delaware. Caleb and Leah Davis sold this land on 24 August 1793 to Joshua SPENCER of Kent County (Kent County Deed D2:141-143). The deed refers to Caleb and Leah Davis of Cedar Creek Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware. On 27 April 1785, Caleb Davis witnessed the will of Joseph Mason, Jr. and he witnessed the will of William TRUITT on 3 May 1790. Since several others had arrived in Monongalia County, Virginia, from Cedar Creek Hundred by 1797, it is believed that Caleb and his family were with this group. The group included Coverdale and Sophia (POYNTER) Hudson COLE and Sophia's daughter Luranah HUDSON and her husband Daniel Davis. The Coles and Luranah and Daniel Davis had on 8 June 1795 while still in Delaware sold land , and purchased land in Monongalia County on 22 March 1797. Margaret WILLEY and some of her children had arrived by 1797, when her son John Willey began performing marriages. (It is not clear if Margaret's husband Absalom Willey died in Delaware or Virginia.) Three HURLEY brothers, Caleb, Joshua and Simeon had arrived in time for John Willey to marry Simeon Hurley and Marian AMOS in 1797. If you think you have a connection or additional information on the family above, I would like to hear from you. Thank you for your attention to my request. Kindest regards, Tod Davis
