He was one of about 9 children (Maud,Hap, Carol, ??) and he married Helen Deffenbaugh (who died about 1975). They had 3 sons and were raised by a step-father by the name of Hanson. Sam was a "brick mason" in Oregon and his family migrated from Canada (French-Canadian). Many of the brothers and sisters lived in Sacramento, CA.in the 1960's.
