DesJardins, 74, of Plain City, Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, July 12, 2014 at The James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. DJ was a teacher for 30 years in the Jonathan Alder School District. He was a remarkable man who had a profound impact on many of the lives he touched. He had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. John loved being a teacher and shared many of his hobbies with his students. He was a skilled accordion player and taught many of his students how to play. John also loved to travel. Students still talk about his map games and how much they learned. His enthusiasm and character inspired many people. John was a completely devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and his wife Markie shared a love that was an inspiration to all who knew them. He is survived by his dear wife of 36 years, Markie (Kirby) DesJardins; children and grandchildren, Sean and Robyn DesJardins, Maxwell and Natalie; Richard Nolley, Hannah; Susie and Scott Haskins, Adam, Matthew, Emily and Ben; brothers and sisters: Ray and Judy DesJardins, Glen DesJardins, Marcia and Richard Stokes, Patsy Kirby. He is preceded in death by his brother Mark DesJardins and his parents Reverend Glen and Mae DesJardins. Friends may visit with family members at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St., Plain City; Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, 202 N. Chillicothe St., Plain City, Ohio on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the DownSyndrome Achieves, P.O. Box 1596, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
