In 1881 my DESJARDINS ancestors (Hugeunots) left Bergholz (near Prenzlau) in Prussia to emigrate to Australia, where they settled in S.E.Queensland. While I have substantial information about the Australian and some German history, I am still unable to locate where our French ancestors resided prior to going to Germany. I am aware that there is a significant group of DESJARDINS in Canada and was wondering if any of these families could be related the the Australian families. Question 1. Did the Canadian families emigrate from France or Germany. Question 2. Do any families originate from the Bergholz area of Prussia. *************************************************************************** Information My immediate German ancestors are: G/Father Johann Wilhelm, born Bergholz, 10/01/1863. Married Maria SCHOENFISCH in Australia in 1885. G/G/Father Johann Wilhelm, born Bergholz, 23/06/1835, Married: 1. Christine Wilhelmenie SEEFELD 2. Henriette Caroline Wilhelmine BLUMKE 3. Marie Christine Charlotte KARR / WERTH G/G/G/Father: Abraham, born 05/04/1889, married: Jean FROEHLING 1820 ************************************************************************************** Any information would be greatly appreciated, including any known valuable web sites, or German researchers interested in the DESJARDINS family.
