Joseph Gardner AKA DesJardiens ,1862 - 1933, was my great grandfather. He was married to Marie "Mary" Thibodeau. They lived most of their life in Corcoran, Hennepin County, Minnesota. They are buried in St. Jeanne de Chantel Catholic Cemetery there. Joseph 1835 - 1912, was born in Rimouski, Quebec, Canada, would have been my great-great grandfather. I found a record of his marriage, in the Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 showing his wife's name listed as Cedelice Mignault. Could this be a different Joseph DesJardiens? (Spelling is from Civil War Records and Cedelice's grave stone.) The witness to the marriage was Antoine DesJardins. I also found census records showing her name as Setilie Lelinna in the state of Minnesota. Joseph was a Pvt. in B. Hatch's Independent Battalion, Cavalry during the Civil War. His record is listed in the www.fold3.com/image/272/299665497. This is a part of the National Archived Catalog compiling documents for the period 1861 - 1866. Joseph was granted a Civil War Pension that was filed on July 30, 1883, application #491213. He died on July 12,1912 and his widow filed for his survivor benefits on July 25, 1912, application #990759. Her headstone list her name as Celedia DesJardiens, 1846-1914. She is also buried in St. Jeanne de Chantel Cemetery. I can not find evidence of Joseph's grave. I was able to find the children of Joseph and Cedelice listed as my great grandfather Joseph, 1862 - 1933, his brother Christmas, born in 1864, sister Lydia, born 1868, sister Mary, born 18710 and sister Josephine, born 1872.
