Looking for information on Joseph & Cecilia (Scott) Desjardin (GARDNER) who were probably born in Canada around 1835-1845, moved to Hennepin County, MN before 1869, and had at least one daughter named Mary (or Marie) Virginia, born 2 December 1869 in Hamel (Sauk Center),MN. Named was changed at some point from Desjardin to Gardner. Thanks.

Also like you, the ancestors I am seeking settled in the south-west of Michigan's Upper Peninsula around Garden, Nadeau, Hermansville, Spaulding, Wilson etc. The name I have that brings my search to a halt is Hilaire Desjardins, married to Marie-Anastasie LaFramboise and father of Rose Margaret, ( born on July 14, 1889 in St. Jerome, Quebec, P.Q.) Rose Margaret married Walter C. Lorenzen and bore five children: Lillian Florence, Marie Violet, Roger W. and Ilene. I note that on one of my info sheets I have penciled in the name "Gardener," which I'd forgotten until just now when I looked at it. I have a birth certificate for Rose Margaret that originates in Ste. Marguerite , Lac Masson, P.Q. When I asked my birth mother (I was adopted) about the name of her grandfather she only remembered him being referred to as Eli (which, to my mind, could easily have evolved from Hilaire, since the French pronunciation omits the initial "h" sound.
