    3. Shardlow was within Aston on Trent parish until 1850 when Shardlow became a separate parish. For all things about Shardlow, it's worth trying the Shardlow Heritage Centre - web site http://homepages.which.net/~shardlow.heritage/ Sheila Cooke there is an expert historian and they are interested in all aspects of the village (and the surname SHARDLOW), so a visit to the centre or a message via a web site is worth a try and they might be interested in the document or even know about it. There is also a history web site for Aston so local historians there might know. Are there any more clues from the document that might help? What links it to militia? I wonder why a militia document would list children. Is it to do with Shardlow Union workhouse guardians? - There is some coverage by Mike Spencer on Yesterday's Journey. Someone on the list might say more. I know about many families in the area but not these - are there more names? Note that the post 1837 Shardlow registration/ census district and the Shardlow Union area covered much more than Shardlow parish, covering many parishes in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
