    3. Hi everyone, George HARTLEY married Mary WILCOCKSON on 21 Nov 1801 in Chesterfield, Dby Mary was baptised 22 Sep 1782 in Old Brampton and was buried there on 27 Jun 1809. I do not have George's birth/baptism or death, their four children were baptised in St Mary's Chesterfield (crooked spire), their fourth child Martha (my 2 x gr grandmother) was born 25 Nov 1807 in Walton and baptised in St Mary's, Chesterfield on 6 Jan 1808. After Mary's death George married Elizabeth WATTS 15 Jan 1810 in Chesterfield, they had two children both baptised in Chesterfield in 1811 and 1813. I have searched for 25 years for George, have found many George HARTLEYS north of the border around Sheffield, but, is one of them my George?, of course I have checked all George HARTLEY deaths in and around Chesterfield, he does not seem to appear on the 1841 Census or later ones. His son George born 5 Feb 1811 moved to London where he married, had children and died in 1887. Any help, suggestions greatly received, happy hunting Annette WATSON Lismore Australia

Annette might these be your George and Elizabeth? 1841 Census George Hartley and Elizabeth Hartley living in Worksop, Notts.  Both say born outside the county.  Chesterfield is only abt 20miles from Worksop. Ref - HO107  Piece 852. Folio 9/46 Page 6 1851 Census George Hulley (Hartley) aged 59 - born Dronfield Derbyshire (in Chesterfield district) Elizabeth Hartley - wife - aged 52 born Eckington, Derbyshire Living in Low Town Lane, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.  He is listed as an agric lab who is blind Ref - HO107 Piece 2122 Folio 117 Page 22 1861 Census Elizabeth is a widow boarding in the house of George and Harriet Smith at ...Lodge, Mill Lane,  Worksop Ref  - RG9 Piece 2419  Folio 54 Page 19 I have found a burial for a George Hartley at Worksop St Mary (Priory)  - 27th May 1859 - the age is a bit as they have him listed as 77  but this might be a transcription error.  There is also a burial for Elizabeth Hartley in the same place -  1st December 1867 aged 82 - again the ages are a bit out but they look a possible for the George and Elizabeth in the censuses.  Their ages vary between the censuses so age might need to be taken with caution. hope this might help Sue in Newark ----- Ori ginal Message ----- From: Annette Watson <annete@aapt.net.au> To: derbysgen@rootsweb.com Cc: Sent: Saturday, 29 December 2012, 0:42 Subject: [DBY] Bringing home the lost and strayed-George HARTLEY Hi everyone, George HARTLEY married Mary WILCOCKSON on 21 Nov 1801 in Chesterfield, Dby Mary was baptised 22 Sep 1782 in Old Brampton and was buried there on 27 Jun 1809.
