I am looking for information on Cyril Arthur Wright born about 1915. He and his wife, Eileen, were living at Ripley in the 1940s. They had a child, Susan, born in 1947. There was another child, Janet, born 1938. I am not sure if Janet was Cyril's child or from Eileen's first marriage. Does anyone know anything about them? David Railton

You need to look at FreeBMD.org.uk from there you will find who Cyril married and when. You can also find the children's mother's maiden names. Do not put Cyril Arthur but just Cyril A. As you don't say where he was born or where they married it's difficult to answer your questions but you should be able to find the answers yourself. Thank you for your reply, Liz. I know that Cyril and Eileen married in India but don't know where or when. Although there are church records available of marriages in Christian churches in India they are not complete and there is poor coverage of the later years of British India. I am hoping that if I can find living family members they may lead me to information about Eileen's previous marriage to Thomas Ernest Abbott which was also in India at Purnea, Bihar on 18 January 1936. Hi David. I understand the situation now. I too have researched marriages and baptisms in India, not always easy. As they were living in Ripley in the 1940s presumably the children were born in England so you should be able to find which of the men is the father. I imagine Cyril was in the Army and not on the 1939 Registration. If the marriages were registered at the British Embassy in India that would help. Also, if the children's births were registered at the Embassy you can trace them. My sister was born in Iraq and I managed to find her registration along with several friends born there. Another friend and her 2 siblings were born in India and I was very surprised to find their births on the Mormon site. Presumably you've tried all these avenues.
