    3. Hi Peter Its a problem you often find with the RFA/RHA and some other regiments Am I right in thinking its the William BARRATT born 11th April 1891? I had a look through the various records available but like you failed to find a note of his specific unit Have you tried the CRO for absent voters lists ? I have sometimes found some information by using other soldiers service numbers close to the targets searching for in this case Artillery I had a brief look and found an Alexander HUTCHISON 81550 Royal Artillery, of 12 Ivy Grove Ripley Derbyshire, who attested 26th July 1915 at Derby There is no guarantee your man was in the same unit but its perhaps worth trying any other service numbers within say ten or twenty of your mans, ignoring the RGA that will also come up Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 08/08/2018 09:41, Peter Patilla via DERBYSGEN wrote: > Good morning > I have a minor irritation with not knowing the Battalion of one of the oldest soldiers of WW1 in my records (he died aged 103) > William Barrat Farrier Sgt RFA 81546 > > But I do not know in which battalion(s) he served > I would like to fill this gap if I could > > Have done the usual searches to find record of Reg numbers and links to battalions (if such exists) but drawn a blank > > If anyone has lateral thoughts on how I can discover this missing item of information please let me know > > Peter
