Searching for a cousin and I've found myself in Derbyshire for the first time. My puzzle at the moment is that I have a Mary Schofield married to Thomas Burdakin 2 Jun 1763 in Hathersage. All of their children seem to be born in Hope. So, while looking for probable parents for Mary, I find 3 possibilities: Chr: 27 Dec 1742 Hathersage father - James Chr: 1 Jan 1748 (Birth-Bradwell) (Chr-Hope) Parents-John and Rebecca Chr: 24 Apr 1747 Castleton Parents-Robert and Ann Because they were married in Hathersage, I thought maybe that would be where she was born, but then because she has such strong ties to Hope, I thought that was a possibility . I don't have access to any images, not sure they would be any help. Ideas? Your email caught my eye as I have the Mary Schofield born to John Schofield and Rebecca nee Burdikin in my tree and it i s her sister Hannah who is my ancestor. For some reason I haven't recorded my source though I remember seeing the Hope parish register. I will check it out later. Hi Teri The banns of marriage were published 1st, 8th & 15th May 1763 at Hathersage Thomas BURDAKIN of Castletown parish and Mary SCHOFIELD of this parish They married at Hathersage 2nd June 1763 Thomas of Castleton and Mary otp Both signed the register Witnesses John BURDEKIN & Joseph RIDSDALE (neither appear to have signed other marriages as witness around the same time) Of the three baptisms, only one came up in a search of the parish registers on Ancestry 1st Jan 1848 Hope Mary dau of John & Rebecka SCHOFIELD Bradwell However browsing through the prs for Hathersage 27th Dec 1742 Mary dau of James SCHOFIELD of H?arpurlees?
