Good afternoon Another stumbling block I have Albert MILNER (b.13 June 1891) married (1917 Derby) to Mary E Knighton (b.7 Mar 1891) I want to pick Albert up in the census so as to trace this line back However, there are two Albert MILNERS born in Derby about this time. One Albert MILNER (1891) and another (1893) In the 1911 and 1901 census there are a couple of Derby MILNERs but I am unsure as to which is which. I can hazard a guess but do not wish to. I wondered if they belong on anyone’s tree? Peter

Hi Peter and Nivard, When looking for Albert I found the baptism Nivard found but I couldn't find him in the censuses. However I found a suggested record for him naming him as Albert DUDSON. I also found him with this name in 1911. That suggests his mother Mary married Henry DUDSON. I cannot find a birth for an Albert DUDSON which would appear to confirm it. Henry and Mary had been married 20 years according to the 1911 census. A Henry DUDSON marries Mary MILNER in Q2 1895 so the 20 years is a convenient lie. Thanks to Nivard & Christine this now solved. Indeed Albert was ill. son of Mary MILNER who wed Henry DUDSON . Albert took the name DUDSON in 1901/1911 but reverted to MILNER by 1917. The 1939 Register also proved the DUDSON link as Albert’s daughter Eva MILNER was with grandparents Mary & Henry DUDSON. What a well-worth question to pose to the Derbyshire list who responded as usual.
