    3. Hi Nivaldo I’m one of the silent members who finds all messages very interesting. My brick wall is Samuel Herod. He is in the Bishop’s Transcript ( found in Lichfield’s record office) married to Charlotte Meland on 3/11/1788 at All Saints Church in Sawley. Both are from said parish yet there is no mention of either family in the transcripts going backwards or forwards. Samuel’s death is recorded as 6/11/1827 and Charlotte’s as 01/08/1804. Samuel’s birth year could be 1754 but without his father’s name I’m stumped. I believe that there wereHerrods /Herods in Crich about this time. Would the parish register of the time have listed their fathers’ names? I know that Samuel worked on the canal boats. If anyone can help I’d appreciate it. Regards Bairbre Sent from my iPad

    3. Hi - My 4th gr grandmother was Dorothy Herod who died 1801 in Duffield. She married into my Haynes family in 1779 in Duffield so I would assume she was born around 1759. One of the witnesses was a Sarah Herod. But like you, I have been unable to find any other records of the Herod family. On Ancestry there is another Dorothy Herod who married Thomas Wist in 1732 in Scropton. Hope this helps! 3. I do get called some weird names ;-) No the fathers would not be mentioned in the PRs for a marriage in that period, and not usually pre July 1837 The only hope would be if it was by licence and one or other father was mentioned But sadly yours is by banns It reads Samuel HEROD of this parish and Charlotte MELAND of this parish were married in this church by banns this 3rd day of November in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight by me Thos HUMPHRIES This marriage was solemnized between us (both signed the register) In the presence of John FAWCETT? & Thos ALLEN There is a baptism of a Charlotte HEROD dau of Samuel & Charlotte at Sawley born Jan 2nd 1803 A Charlotte HEROD was buried 1st Aug 1804 at Sawley Also in 1804 a Sophia HEROD was buried 28th MArch Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 02/06/2018 14:27, Bairbre wrote: > Hi Nivaldo > I’m one of the silent members who finds all messages very interesting. > My brick wall is Samuel Herod.
