My brickwall is Thirza Birch, baptized 25 feb 1821 at Belper, illegitimate daughter of Mary Birch. When Thirza was 2 Mary married Thomas Shorthose at Crich. Mary died in 1836 in Belper. There is a group of Birches buried at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Belper in the 1820s but whether they are all the same family I can't say. John and Ann Birch had a daughter Thirza in Belper in 1819 who died so it might be a reasonable inference that Mary's Thirza was called after that Thirza and therefore Mary was sister to the first baby Thirza?
