I have a whole swarm of Battersbys in the Whitwell area, but my brickwalls are 2 of them. My 6x great-grandfather was PETER BATTERSBY - I have his death date in 1758, but no birth date or marriage date. He was married to Alice, no surname known, their first child was born in 1745. Peter's father was JOHN BATTERSBY - again, I have a death date (1744) but no birth or marriage dates. He was married to Ann, again no surname known, who died in 1729, and then Alice (why don't these people leave their surnames behind, lol) - John & Alice had a child Thomas born in 1743.
