    3. According to the 1851/61/71 records, Joseph gives his birthplace as Biggin, Derbyshire. There are 2 places named Biggin in Derbyshire one being near Hulland. The 1841/51/61 census records show a Joseph BRINDLEY born c1794 at Hulland, Labourer married to a Sarah born c1785-91 at Warwick and living in Belper - could this be your Joseph's father. The 1841 census shows Joseph & Sarah in Belper together with presumably their son Samuel and his family, he being born c1816. There is a Samuel BRINDLEY baptised on 29 October 1815 at the Zion Chapel Lady Huntingdon's, Ashbourne, Derbyshire (source IGI Family Search) and coincidentally there is the baptism of a Joseph BRINDLEY (from the same source) on 14 June 1818 at St Alkmund King Street Methodist Wesleyan Chapel. This transcription has the parents as Joseph & Hannah but a subsequent baptism at the same Chapel for a David BRINDLEY on 30 March 1823 shows the parents to be Joseph & Sarah so I would guess that Hannah is a mis-transcription and should read Sarah. Does any of this fit with what you already know such as information from your Joseph's marriage record? Janet My Bs came together on 9th December 1839 at Duffield where they were married in the Parish Church. They were Joseph BRINDLEY, born about 1818 in Derby and Mary BRENTNALL, born about 1814 in Belper. They were my g-g-grandparents. Joseph's father was also called Joseph, born around 1795 but no further information known.

    3. Hi Janet You've certainly given me a lot to work on! I haven't had chance to do much research over the last few months so this will give me the impetus to get back into it. Thanks very much for your help. I'll let you know how I get on. Best wishes, Dave -----Original Message----- From: Janet Booth Sent: Sunday, March 17, 2013 11:46 AM To: derbysgen@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [DBY] Brickwall demolition - B for Brindley,Brentnall and Birkin According to the 1851/61/71 records, Joseph gives his birthplace as Biggin, Derbyshire.
