I've been researching my family tree for 15 years and have never been able to find a marriage for my gt-grandparents, Joseph SALLIS and Hannah BEMBRIDGE (even looking for alternative spellings.) On the 1881 census they were living in Beard (or New Mills 5 miles north of Chapel-en-le-Frith, ecclesiastic parish of St. Georges) and had a twelve-month old daughter Ellen with them. Hannah and Ellen were reported as born in Duffield. Joseph, age 23, was a railway signalman and was reported as born in Severn Stoke, Worcestershire. They were together and reported as married on all the subsequent censuses including the 1901. Joseph died in 1909 in Glossop. They went on to have another ten children between 1881 and 1900. Frustrating not to be able to find a marriage that should be straight-forward. Lynda
