After a decade plus of searching and with the kind help of a fellow researcher the mystery of my ggg grandfather's confusing name of Wood / Willmott ( various spellings) was unravelled. It appears that he was born a Wood but his mother eventually married his father. Is anyone out there related to either William Towndrow or THomas Williamott as per the info below? I would love to learn about their families, particularly Thomas Williamott as he seems to have married another around the time Hannah gave birth. Unfortunately I can't remember or find the actual date. I had put this research away until the list came up with the great idea of working through the alphabet to research brick walls. When his wife died he then married Hannah Wood. How many of these children were his? Other than the first child it appears that Elizabeth and George, my direct relative, were but I don't know about Hannah b.1798. Here's hoping someone else is pursuing the same families. Many thanks.
