Hello Joan have just had a quick look - page 58 is good and its interesting to know how important lead mines were to that district and indeed to all the country - lead mining came second to wool at one time. Its really interesting. Ive also found the Census records for 1841, 1851,1861 and 1871 and made a list of the Elliott miners during these dates and other names involved and will look them up on Google after I've made the tea. Poor me! thanks again Joan ---------------------------------------- > From: joan@saxton61.fsnet.co.uk > To: derbysgen@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 5 Jun 2013 11:24:45 +0100 > Subject: Re: [DBY] Henry Elliott/Well Groove Mine. > > Hi Jo > > There's a bit of info at this website, (Peak District mining) > > http://www.pdmhs.com/ > > There's mention of a Well Grove Mine on page 59 of Ron Slack's book, which > can be downloaded from the site. > Possibly there's more info in other chapters of the book.
