Hello folks, A picture of an 8 inch Ginger Jar raises some questions. (see www.wirksworth.org.uk/X646.htm) What was the jar used for? J.T.MARSH seems to have been a grocer and a tea dealer for 50 years. Could it have been a tea caddy? It would need a big cork. William MARSH calls himself "Bailiff for the Court of Requests". According to Wikipedia, the Court of Requests ended in the Civil War. Is Wikipedia wrong? Is the Census entry wrong? Anyone with legal knowledge know? Does anyone have a photo of Joseph MARSH 1834-1909? He seems to have had no offspring. Anyone have him in their family tree?
