I'm still working on Mosley (spelt in various forms) mainly from Dronfield, Brampton, and Eyam. There are various families which must be linked in some way between these various parishes. I've been able to work through the lines individually but can't find those elusive links, probably in the first half of the 18th century. If anyone else has these names from these places, I'd love to hear from you and to work together to try and break a wall which has stumped me for more years than I care to remember.
I am confused about a John PEARSON and an Ann PEARSON. 1841 census, Derby, DBY, Litchurch St. John PEARSON - Living with Samuel PEARSON family, age 15, born DBY. Samuel's mother (and John's mother?), Jane TOPLISS PEARSON (age 61) is living with them as well. Ann PEARSON - Living with Thomas PEARSON family, age 18, born DBY - Samuel and Thomas were brothers, living one family apart on Litchurch St., St. Peter's, Derby 1851 census, Derby, DBY, Litchurch St. John PEARSON - Now living with Thomas PEARSON family. John is identified as 'brother' of Thomas PEARSON. John, age 24, born Wirksworth. Ann PEARSON - Probably married. The PEARSON family in 1818, including young Thomas and Samuel, were removed from Ticknall where they were born, to Wirksworth, their father John's place of legal settlement (even though John's wife, Jane TOPLISS (married 1801, Calke), and all eight of their children up to 1818 had been born in Ticknall). 1861 Derby census, Litchurch St. John PEARSON, age 34, visitor with family of Thomas PEARSON. The problem. The family was removed to Wirksworth in 1818 as far as I know. I have the Removal papers and the Ticknall Parish Expenses tabulating the cost of the removal and payment to the man who supposedly accompanied them. No corresponding repayment from Wirksworth, though. And although I've searched John Palmer's excellent Wirksworth site for parish records and have viewed the FHL film for Wirksworth P.R.s of that period (1818-1830) I did not find a birth/baptism for John (c. 1826) or Ann (c. 1823) although Ann is not proven to be from Wirksworth. She may be the daughter of one of John Sr.'s siblings, but there are no Ann PEARSONs bapt. to any PEARSONs in 1822-1824 in Wirksworth. She also could have been born in Ticknall where her mother's people were. 1851 census searches don't help much as there are several married possibilities. The question. Did John and Jane PEARSON have two more children after they arrived (if they did) in Wirksworth? I think John, Sr., died in Wirksworth 04Apr1837. His son Thomas was already married and in Derby in 1835, so I think the various family members came to Derby after John, Sr.'s death. Thanks in advance for any ideas or information. Judy
