Hi Peter & Mike Did your Isaac have a reason to change his name? You mentioned prisons! In 1911 I have found an Isac TURNER 53yrs born Shirland with brother Alec aged 59yrs born Shirland - both miners and unmarried. They are still in Skegby, Notts No Isaac Turner appears to exist born in 1858 in Shirland on any other census. Any thoughts on why a name change may be possible?
