Afternoon all A query on one of my Lea Mills men in WWI I have John H Beresford, served 3rd Batt Norfolk Reg 14298. He joined up 16/02/17 aged 20. (Lea Mills records) The best fit in the census is John Henry Beresford born c 1899 Wirksworth son of Albert & Annie but obviously this is speculative at present I have little on this man and would like a little more – if he belongs on anyone's history I would love to know more Also, I have in my notes from the late George Wigglesworth that Sergt William Broomhead of Notts & Derby /Royal Lancashire regiments was awarded the Military Medal. George was fairly meticulous in his research but I cannot find any mention in the records of this. Military Medals are a problem ! Regards Peter

Hi peter - I have John Henry Beresford in my tree - he was my great grandfather born 1848. I have his parents as Henry Beresford and Rachel Fearn but this may be wrong. He had a son also named John Henry who was born in 1880 so it may be the one you are looking at. His mother was Harriett Haynes. I keep meaning to join the Beresford Society as they have the entire tree confirmed. Let me know if you need any more help.
