    3. Hi all Sorry to wake you up ;-) Some will have heard of Futurelearn, others may not https://www.futurelearn.com/ They have many online courses on a very wide range of subjects, but one starting tomorrow may be of interest specifically https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/genealogy This free online course will help you develop an understanding of basic genealogy techniques and how to communicate your family history. We will consider how to effectively find and analyse sources and explore the potential of DNA testing as applied to genealogy. We’ll help you add historical context to your family history and discuss how to record and communicate research findings in a clear fashion. The course is primarily designed for people at beginner to intermediate level. Although it starts Monday 16th Jan 2017 you can start and do it at your own pace They are free and you get a lot from them but of course have to apply some effort to get the most You can if you wish purchase a certificate at the end of the course but there is no necessity to do so There are of course many other courses all online all free, so you may want to try something else -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)

    3. I followed the course last year and enjoyed it... I agree about the level, but it did give me an idea or two Margaret > On 15 Jan 2017, at 12:42, Nivard Ovington via DERBYSGEN <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > Hi all > > Sorry to wake you up ;-) > > Some will have heard of Futurelearn, others may not > > https://www.futurelearn.com/ > > They have many online courses on a very wide range of subjects, but one starting tomorrow may be of interest specifically > > https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/genealogy > > This free online course will help you develop an understanding of basic genealogy techniques and how to communicate your family history. 3. Hi Margaret I think any course even one where you are fairly proficient can be worthwhile doing as you get ideas and updates and a chance to discuss it with other like minded people And there is no particular time scale so no one is going to slap your wrists for not doing your homework ;-) Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 15-Jan-17 3:48 PM, Margaret Siudek via DERBYSGEN wrote: > I followed the course last year and enjoyed it...
