If the baby was born a tad longer than 9 months after the husband had been last seen around.... vicars did express doubts, or leave a father's name out, I've seen that in other registers. Some ministers seemed to regard the parish register as their personal journal and put whatever they wanted to put, sometimes with all sorts of personal comments on parishioners!
