Could I please ask if some kind soul would lookup one, maybe two, marriages on the microfilms in the Derbyshire Record Office relating to John Higton, born 09 Jan 1784 at Wirksworth? I am reasonably confident that the maiden name of John's wife was Hanby or Handby, and that she was born in Lea DBY in about 1800. I have a possible marriage at Wirksworth on 11 Nov 1822, for John Higton to Ann Mather but, if this is the correct marriage, she must have been a widow. Could someone please check if the PR records her marital status and, if so , was she a widow or a spinster? If she was a spinster, then this marriage is not the correct one, so a marriage at Dethick was appear to be the most likely, and with a probable date range 1820 - 1826. Could sks please search for this too? This date range is because I have baptisms for two children on John and Ann: Mary Ellen born on 21 Sep 1823 at Wirksworth, and George baptised on 07 May 1826 at Dethick (Ince records George as their only child).
