Hi Dawn, Thank you for the link - have checked that and there is not mention of Stephen COUPE chr 1799. I guess I will have to check the BTs - the LDS have films available for PRs & Bts for Bolsover but not for that period of time, as you say the PRs were destroyed in a fire. We hope to be in England this year so if I have time I will make a trip to Lichfield Join Record Office, will have to make a list of other records I need to check. Robert COUPE father of Stephen baptised in Old Brampton in 1834 is the brother of Stephen (1799). Happy hunting Annette At 12:32 PM 2/02/2013, you wrote: >Annette, if you click on this link it will take you to the Genuki page >on Bolsover:- > >http://www.cree.name/genuki/Bolsover/#ChurchRecords > >Unfortunately, for you you'll see that there is one book missing of the >parish records, apparently burnt in a fire, it covers baptisms from >1717-1812, almost 100 years! Annette, if you click on this link it will take you to the Genuki page on Bolsover:- http://www.cree.name/genuki/Bolsover/#ChurchRecords Unfortunately, for you you'll see that there is one book missing of the parish records, apparently burnt in a fire, it covers baptisms from 1717-1812, almost 100 years! However, you might be lucky with the BTs which are held at the Lichfield Joint Record Office. There is a Stephen Coupe baptised at Old Brampton in 1834, parents Robert & Hannah, Robert might be your Stephen's brother or cousin. Robert & Hannah had six children baptised at OB. According to what part of the country one lived in, a walker could also be known as a tucker or fuller, which also gave rise to those surnames. Wryght was clearly someone who worked with metal - a wheelwright, etc. Theker - not sure about this but it may have referred to a thatcher. -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Famous family trees blog: http://blog.findmypast.co.uk/tag/roy-stockdill/ "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." My only suggestion would be for number 3, Wright, as in maker of things, wheel-wright as an example & (even playwright!). Not sure of the others. Sadly there have been several attempts by persons unknown to falsely claim some of our list members have been mugged whilst abroad and need financial assistance to get home. *Please do not respond to these appeals.* They are NOT genuine. Someone who thinks it is clever/fun to extort money from others and cause unnecessary distress to the account holder has hijacked/faked etc the email account. Regrettably for the person who's having their account abused in this manner, they will have to be unsubscribed immediately until the problem's been resolved. This will prevent any further attempts to send mails to the list. I know most of you are already aware of this particularly nasty trick. This warning is for those who are unaware of it or may believe it to be true. Make sure you have a good strong password on your account, a means of regaining control of your account in the event of it being hijacked, good security (not just anti virus) and try to avoid keeping an online address book. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
