    1. Re: [DBY] Marriage of John Bullock to Elizabeth Unknown
    2. Christine Simpson
    3. Hi Sue Thanks for looking. I'm beginning to think that there may be a mistake in the baptism records as there is a John Bullock, aged 9, living with his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Bullock, on the 1841 Census at Crich. This probably explains why no marriage can be found for a John Bullock. 2. Peter Patilla
    3. Kaen According to my records there was a John Swift baptised at St Giles, Matlock 17 June 1792 to parents John Swift and Sarah (Larad). There is an alias of "Lord" recorded. I believe parents John & Sarah married 27 Sep 1787 John Swift married Sarah Storer at St Giles, Matlock 10 Jun 1813 by licence. Both are recorded as being of Matlock. I cannot find a Sarah Storer baptised in Matlock who would "fit" however there are a couple in Crich who were bapt 6 Mar 1791 (to Samuel & Lucy) and 12 Oct 1794 to George & Martha) Good luck Peter On 26 Mar 2013, at 13:51, quercuske@rwellwood.karoo.co.uk wrote: > > > > Hello, I am new to the group. He was a marble turner by trade and married Sarah STORER of Crich in 1813. There is a christening in the Wirksworth registers for 1789 of a John Swift. His parents are Anthony and Mary. This John appears in census and is a lead miner. He calls a son Anthony, presumably after his father. Not my John. I will be most grateful for any assistance. You might check out "The Archive Photographs Series" of books of historic photographs (in B&W) on various areas…I am not familiar enough with them to point you to a specific book, or know whether any would contain a photograph of the defunct church, but it's worth a/fun to look. The two Chesterfield books in The Archive Series (which I own) were compiled by Roy Thompson. Book 1 "Chesterfield" contains early photographs. ISBN: 0 7524 0014 2 Book 2 "Chesterfield" contains photo's of the area dated 1945-1995. ISBN: 0 7524 0364 8 (I get no remuneration, etc., for mentioning them and this is not intended to be an ad.)
