    1. [DENNING-UK]Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [DENNING-UK]Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

    3. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Dinning/Denning Date: Sun, 26 Feb 2012 09:44:52 -0800 From: John Harvey <johnharvey@nventure.com> To: <DENNING-ADMIN@rootsweb.com> Diane, More research is always “needed” but my position is “Not at the moment, thanks.” However, I have gathered quite a bit of information on my Scots-Irish DINNING family that emigrated from Londonderry in the 1760s to North Carolina, then in 1799 to Tennessee. Most of my branch changed the surname spelling to DENNING and went on to Kentucky, Missouri and California. I would be pleased to share information with anyone else researching this line. I would probably learn something! John Denning

He owned two lots in Troy KS at one time and farmed in Wolf River KS which was about 15 miles away. He could read some but not write and used an "X" for his signature on his marriage registration to Jerusha. Often his name was misspelled as Jones or Johnnes in several records of the time. 1. [DENNING-UK] what you can learn from genetic genealogy
    2. what you can learn from genetic genealogy i always believed my people came from or thru england to scotland wales to ireland Cavan /longford with lady forbes then to chelsea. the problem was what paperwork gets me there. I am still in ireland 1775ish. well this lady tested her dad he matched me totally so at some point both our relatives lived in the same house Bishop Burton Yorkshire England her name is Dunning. Dennings do live in Bishop Burton Yorkshire England Also now we wait for more people to test and match us. paperwork is exchanged and the tree grows. But it doesn't end there way paste attainable paper is this from genetics from _http://community.haplozone.net/index.php?topic=1196.0_ (http://community.haplozone.net/index.php?topic=1196.0) Hi Jim, Your haplotype is more distant from the V13 modal than average, but we know from your SNP test that you are indeed V13. This suggests that your line separated from the modal a long time ago and has had time to accumulate a relatively large number of one step mutations. It has occurred to me that there was a degree of mixing among the Keltoi and the Thracians that is documented archaeologically along the border between their cultural regions. Perhaps your ancestor in the Balkans was on the Celtic speaking side of that line. We really can't know that for sure, of course, but it is entirely reasonable. Even the Scordiski (Celtic speakers) might have intermingled with the Illyrians, Dacians or Thracians along the Vardar-Morava river corridor. That would place your V13 line in the same general region as everyone else's, but speaking Celtic rather than Dacian, for example. Anyway, a more distant haplotype is usually called "old" just to indicate that it is further from the modal. It could be just a statistical artifact too. Either way, yours is one of the furthest from the 67 haplotype modal. 1. [DENNING-UK] Names with Dnn
    2. I Run the Denning and Variants Genetics Project. the Idea of the Project is what I have found in my life and Genealogy. That these names with dnn change alot. With a local dialect added to an exsisting Brough vowels change . in my name g's go silent. i do it. thus i always spell it to people People who i worked with for 20 yrs still call me dennis dineen denehy ect. Have any of you had variants in your genealogy. This can help solve that this is the entry for the first denning in neghs great migrations page 525 the great migration begins WILLIAM DENNING ORIGIN:unknown MIGRATION: 1633 FIRST RESIDENCE:Boston CHURCH MEMBERSHIP::"WILLYAM DENNYNservant to our brother WILLIAM BRENTON" was admitted to boston church 23 mar 1633/4[BChR 17] FREEDMAN:9 March 1636-7[as "will:dinny"][mbcr 1:373] EDUCATION: the invenory includes "one bible"valued at 6 s. FREEMAN: 9 March 1636/7 (as "Will: Dinny") [MBCR 1:373]. EDUCATION: The inventory includes "one bible" valued at 6s. ESTATE: On 12 December 1636 "William Deninge" was one of five servants of William Brenton ordered to have their Great Allotments at Muddy River [BTR 14]. (Pope claims that Denning was proprietor on 14 December 1635; this is the date on which most Boston proprietors were awarded these allotments, but Denning and others were an afterthought a year later.) On 8 January 1637/8 the grants were laid out, and "William Denning" received ten acres [BTR 26]. In the Boston Book of Possessions "William Deming [sic]" held a house and lot bounded by Captain Keayne north, Maudit English west, Benjamin Gillam east, and the lane southeast [BBOP 37]. On 5 January 1651/2 "William Deming" and Maudit English complained about hindrance of access to their garden by the owners of the windmill, and were given relief by the town [BTR 107]. In his will, dated 18 January 1653/4 and proved 31 January 1653/4, "William Denning" gave to his wife Ann Dening the use of his estate for life; after her decease, if his son Obediah come over into New England then one-half the estate to be his, otherwise 20s.; the remainder, together with the other half, to my kinswoman Mary Powell, provided she remain with my wife during her life; friends and brethren Edward Fletcher and John Hull overseers, they to have power to sell about half an acre below my garden, bounded with the highway on one side, Maudit English on the west, and Deacon Marshall and Captain Robert Keayne on the north, to pay debts; witnesses Gamaliel Waite and Benjamin Negus [SPR 1:95]. The inventory was taken 18 January 1653/4 [sic] by Richard Gridley and Gamaliel Waite, and presented 31 January 1653/4 by Edward Fletcher and John Hull; the estate totalled £80 7s., of which £60 was real estate: "one house & lot adjoining unto it & two house lots joining to them ... consisting of about two acres ... with sundry fruit trees" [SPR 2:138]. BIRTH: By about 1616 based on date of freemanship (and probably somewhat earlier if he did have an adult son by the time of his death). DEATH: Boston 20 February 1653/4 [BVR 43]. MARRIAGE: By an uncertain date Ann _____; no record of her seen other than in her husband's will. CHILD: i OBEDIAH, not in New England at the date of his father's will, 18 January 1653/4; if he was already of full age by this time, as seems to be implied by the language of the will, he must have been born in England prior to the family's migration to New England. (Pope says Obadiah was in England, but the will only says he was not in New England.) ASSOCIATIONS: The Mary Powell named as kinswoman in the will of William Denning remains unidentified. She was not a daughter of Michael Powell of Dedham and Boston [NEHGR 131:173-74]. William Powell of Charlestown did have a daughter Mary in 1637, the right age to be a servant in the Denning household in 1653, and her fate is unknown [Wyman 768]. On 27 May 1657 Edward Wright married a Mary Powell in Boston [BVR 63]. She could be the same as Mary, daughter of William Powell of Charlestown, or she could be a separate individual. Either could be the woman named in William Denning's will, but proof is lacking. COMMENTS: For what seems to be a relatively simple surname, William appears under many different guises in the records. The instances of "Deming" are fairly straightforward, since the descriptions of land match those found in the will. The record of freemanship ("Dinny") is identified as this William because it falls in a group of mostly Boston men in the list, and there is no other William Dennis or Denny or anything similar; Pope says the freeman of 9 March 1636/7 was William Dennis of Scituate, but all records for him are in Plymouth Colony and not Massachusetts. On 4 September 1638 "George Horne is fined 10s. for distemper with drink, which his master, Willi: Denne, undertook to see satisfied" [MBCR 1:234]. Since the William Dennyn of this sketch was himself a servant only two years before this record, this may well refer to some other man. There is not, however, anyone else in Massachusetts Bay at the time with a similar name. 1. [DENNING-UK] Results from the Denning and Variant Project
    2. In the start with this many names ,things have been fairly slow. But with me an a new found relative named Dunning. Results are here. Basicly with me fully tested and my Dunning almost there we are a definate Match. We Both are E1b1b1a2,V13. The Dunning Comes from Bishop Burton, England .This is Great News. I have been trying to get a Chelsea Dennings to Test. This would allow me to trianglate the dna. This is a process like you saw in movies where the germans tried to find the french underground radio by using 3 recievers. The Basic Idea is to prove paperwork. Or as in this case show where paperwork should be. If I did close cousins I know to be relatives. If we match then we would know the dna of the common ancestor. We have on paper,My gggg grandfather James Denning bn 1775ish. But the results I received today Prove that me and Ms Dunning and her dad are definatly related. The space in the middle could be filed by you and yours. Eventully others who match us will test and Provide much needed info. Also we have learnt that as of this date we are the oldest in our classification. Meaning when the Haplogroup formed we might be the ones who did it. We outdate the others so far by 6000 years There are other less solid lines forming between a multitude of dnn names like Denning , Danahy, Denehy, Denney,& Deming. And still more We are Patiently awaiting to learn who you are Jim Denning -Ygenealogist-MTgenealogist using Genetics to connect Genealogy List owner of Irish-dna,Piscopo-l-Heslin-l,McHugh-l,Cogan-l-Machelsea-l,Ita-Frosinone-l,Mazzola-l-Duggan-l Project Manager of Chelsea Ma.
